Need for Balance:
It’s pretty clear that Central London, and especially the edges of Central London, places like King’s Cross and Paddington and Spitalfields and Borough, are getting plenty of office space.

On the other side it looks as though we are not getting nearly enough housing, not as much housing as the Mayor’s plan wanted.

The final point is that the social housing which is being produced in Central London isn’t big enough. Too much of it is studio flats, one person flats when a lot of the need is for larger premises, larger units. So that I think is the other thing which really has changed. So the pressure from the Mayor’s Office, via the Mayor’s Office through Camden and Islington, should be to really change the balance in favour of housing, in favour of social housing, in favour of larger housing units on the King’s Cross Development. It’s a very different environment from what we were in two years ago.
